Brachiosaurus grew up to 13 metres high and weighed up to 70 tonnes. This great bulk, coupled with the interesting placing of its huge nostrils - on top of the skull - has led palaeontologists to believe for many years that it was an aquatic creature. Today it seems more likely that Brachiosaurus lived on land, its huge neck enabling it to crop the leaves from the conifer treetops where there was an abundant source of food which no other creature could reach.
